The imperative of solitude...

It is easier to think about other people’s problems than to focus on ourselves. There is a time and a place for this distraction; however, for the followers of Jesus it is also warning that we are wandering from the source of our ongoing life. Jesus was never so taken by the problems of people around him that he neglected his solitude. Jesus modeled the rhythm of the disciple’s life: solitude – engagement – solitude – engagement. Jesus knew that he could not give what he did not have. Nor can we. – Ron Friesen
