If there is one discipline that runs counter to our modern
culture, it is the discipline of humiliation. It is at this point that
followers of Jesus find their commitment to their Lover tested at every point.
When we answer God’s call to serve the least among us, we will find that we
will have to bend low. We will find that we will have to enter into the
humiliation our Jesus entered into when he came and lived among us. We will
learn that when we serve the lowliest among us, we indeed take on the
family-resemblance of God. – Ron Friesen
