There are many people who have had an awakening. Their eyes
have been opened to the spiritual truths of the Bible, yet their lives appear
unchanged. They have heard the truth, contemplated it and maybe even agreed
with it but they have not received the truth for themselves. Their eyes are
opened, but they have received nothing. Why have they received nothing? They
have failed to recognize the gift of God that is the judgment of their
violation of God’s laws and the forgiveness of that rightful judgment. They
have experienced some feelings of regret and remorse but not a conversion. They
may even have responded with vows to change and be different, but this is not
what the Bible calls salvation. Salvation is the receiving of the gift of
forgiveness which leads to a live that fulfills Jesus’ words, “go and sin no
