Do all the doors in
front of you seem shut? Day after day you try to find a job, get a promotion,
make another sale, try to have a baby – all seems futile. The doors seem to be slammed
shut! The ancient prophet, Isaiah, noted that there was coming a man, Eliakim,
who would open doors for his people that would never be shut again:
“I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of
David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.”
(Isaiah 22:22)
While this text was fulfilled in Isaiah’s day, there was One
who came after Eliakim of whom it was said he was the Door that would never
close to anyone who came knocking. This One who opens the door to abundant
living asks for humility and brokenness. Come knocking today. – Ron Friesen
