How many does people does it take to change the world?

How many people does it take to change a light bulb? If you ask a psychologist, she will answer, “The light bulb needs to want to be changed.” The same question can be asked of our world, “How many people does it to take to change the world?” Well, not very many according to the ancient prophetic vision. It only takes a small fraction of the world, literally, a remnant:

“In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of Jacob, 
will no longer rely on him
who struck them down
but will truly rely on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel” (Isaiah 10:20).

There is a lot of truth in the old truism: God and I make a majority. It does not take a vast army of people to turn the tide. People who were involved in the collapse of East Germany in 1989 will tell you of the great movement of prayer that accompanied the tidal wave of events that lead to the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union. The prayer movement began with only a few participants. While the prayer group attendance grew over time, it never grew to such a degree that one could call it the majority of the people. This story will give you a greater appreciation of the power of a remnant. – Ron Friesen
