The arrogance of the human being is astounding. The
arrogance is not new: read the words of the prophet Isaiah written about 600
B.C. –
“You said in your heart,
“I will ascend to the heavens;
I
will raise my throne above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount
of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.
I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make
myself like the Most High.”
But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to
the depths of the pit.” Isaiah 14:13-15.
Who are we who think that we can place ourselves in place of
God? The acronym for Edging God Out, EGO, is completely true. When we inflate
our ego to the point that we think we can replace God as the God of the
universe, we have completely put God outside of our lives. We have made
ourselves into gods. We will reap what we sow with this arrogance. Remember
pride comes before the fall. – Ron Friesen
