  1. Ron:

We should never forget that there are peace heroes as well as war heroes.

  2. Ron and Whit,
What you both wrote is true and damned good words with that. What we must seek is a diplomatic manner in which to prevent war and needless loss of life.
That Iraqi war could have been prevented by some skilled negeotiations with Saddam Hussein - But no, and off to war we went.
Know this however, there are times when diplomacy ceases to work; and then the use military force is required.
And, remember that the military does not formulate America's foreign policy,
    they implement it.
It absolutely boils my blood when people when those who dispise the military decry us for every reason they can come up with but yet if the call to arms came would not grab a musket and respond to that bugle call.
So today, remember those brave men at Beleau Ridge, on Omaha Beach, landing at Pelieu, those at Chosin Reservior, the Mekong Delta, Khe Shan, the skies over North Vietnam, Panama, Gernada, Iraq, and Afghanistan. No, these men did not chose to be sent into harms way but they went.

    Yes, remember them...

  3. Sarge, we do remember them. I just read Archie Parrish's memories of his time of service in the Korean War -- very moving..

  4. Sarge thank you for honoring those that have served a greater cause than their own. We must admit that peace is not found on this earth like many would like to believe. Peace is a treaty that is easily broken at the crack of a rifle. We live in a world that is broken and often found at war. War is not a bad thing perse, but at times deemed necessary in order to bring a form of peace to a region or bring to the attention ignored issues. We have mini wars in marriage and bringing up kids. Most the times these bouts come about from unaddressed issues that no longer can be ignored. War is not meant to be pleasant and enjoyable, but used as a corrective tool. God bless you Ron.
