This is Holy Week in the life of the Christian Church. I
will be sharing lessons from the Garden.
Today’s lesson: Come and pray.
As Jesus and the disciples entered the Garden of Gethsemane,
he invited them to pray while he went and did business with his Heavenly
Father. Jesus told them to pray that they would not fall into temptation. What
would be tempting the disciples? Besides the temptation to fall asleep that they
did give into, it is not clear what temptation Jesus might be warning them to
be aware of. The clue might be in the words, “Watch and pray.” They were to
watch Jesus praying. What was he praying for? Jesus was praying for the wisdom
to know and the strength to do the Father’s will. Are we ever tempted to not do
the Father’s will? Join the disciples in the Garden this week to watch and pray
that you will be tempted not do the Father’s will. – Ron Friesen
