Holy Week 2016 Introduction

Holy Week Meditations

2016

For several years I have written meditations for Holy Week. This year I was not sure what my focus would be on until June, my wife, was preaching a sermon on healing. One of her texts touched my spirit. I was moved by the words “by his wounds you have been healed.”

I have decided to write my meditations in a poetic form this year.
Healing is a creative process that calls for creative thinking and writing.

Here is the biblical text that has informed my spirit in writing these meditations.

“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

‘He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.’

23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 ‘He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed.’” (I Peter 2:21-24 New International Version).

Have a Blessed Holy Week as you prepare your heart to celebrate Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday.
