Turn on the television news and there is story after story
of pain and suffering. If you subscribe to a newsfeed on your computer you will
open up your computer to more stories of pain and suffering. In the movie, Life
of Pi, these words are spoken, “When you've
suffered a great deal in life, each additional pain is both unbearable and
trifling.” Where can we find comfort for our brokenhearted world. The Psalmist
was acquainted with grief and pain and observed,
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves
those who are crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18
Why can God be close to us when our hearts are broken?
Does God really know our pain? On the Cross God encountered pain and suffering.
On the Cross, God taking on flesh and blood, says, “Me, too.” God’s broken
heart embraces your brokenness. – Ron Friesen
