Who are we?

Who are we? If we are followers of Jesus we have some interesting identities or labels according to the Scriptures. Many of us are familiar with the labels of “Children of God” or “The family of God.” We may not be as familiar with the identities Isaiah uses:

“They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the Lord;
and you will be called Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted.” (Isaiah 62:12)

We may not feel particularly holy, yet according to God we are holy. God sees us as holy, not because we are good, but Jesus is good enough for us. We are ‘redeemed of the Lord” because God has purchased our freedom from the hands of the Evil One. Maybe no one else is hungering after us, but God views us as some who is worth Seeking After. Ever feel like an empty shell of humanity? When we are followers of Jesus, we are no longer empty; like a city filled with a sea of humanity, we are filled with the reality of God’s presence.
